Autumn and the Chestnut Festivals
The 2009 adventure will find us back in Umbria for my favorite time of year, autumn and the harvest festivals.
I'm excited because we are coming in at
the right moment for the Chestnut Festivals.
The smaller hill towns know how to throw a
sagra. I anticipate we will be trying a plethora
of local treats, from chestnut honey to
chestnut cake.
Out itinerary also includes a visit to Paolo
Bea's winery in Montefalco to sample a few
of his notable Sagrantinos. One of this year's
adventurers is part of the California wine
industry. I'm eager to hear his opinion of
this boutique wine.
We'll be spending time in Orvieto, Assisi and
Perugia, as well. And, of course, the open air markets.
.
Ah, but there is never enough time.
