Tailoring Your Itinerary
Come with us to Italy and let Umbrian Adventures organize and guide you on a unique, relaxed adventure in the Umbrian countryside. Our sample Itineraries give an idea of a typical week. However, there are many things to do and places to see. We work with you to tailor your trip to suit your interests and ideas of the perfect Umbrian Adventure.
Cities and hill towns within an easy drive include: Anghiari, Arezzo, Bevagna, Citta della Pieve, Cortona, Gubbio, Montefalco, Montepulciano, Montone, Narni, Norcia, Orvieto, Panzano, Perugia, Preggio, Sansepolcro, Spello, Spoleto, Todi, Tuoro sul Trasimeno.
Depending upon time of year, we always hope to visit one or two local festivals or sagras. Sagras are local festivals historically built around food, honoring/celebrating a specific regional favorite. Local sagras include seafood, regional pastas, cherries, wild boar, truffles, mushrooms, wild greens, etc. (Sagras are community events, often with dancing and live music.)
Customizing your adventure…
There are a number of local artisans and specialists
who can be engaged to help make your adventure
special, including:
• bi-lingual guides for historical tours,
• natural history hikes,
• Italian lessons,
• yoga by the pool,
• therapeutic massage,
• wine tasting with a local sommelier,
• olive oil tasting with a local grower,
• cooking and baking lessons.
Stay in Umbria for a second week…
Your two-week adventure would include two to three
additional cooking lessons and an artisanal tour.
Cheese making would be planned for your first week
so you could enjoy eating your own pecorino fresco
or ricotta cheese during week two!
Additional tours might include: a day in Anghiari visiting the Busatti linen factory or a visit to the Luzzi’s to see the generations old tradition of hand weaving baskets; a half day trip to medieval Gubbio with its Roman amphitheater and unique pottery; a half day trip to Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis.
Depending on the season and scheduled dates, we might find an outdoor movie (think Cinema Paradiso!) or one of the region’s many antiquarian fairs, festivals or sagras.
